Recently rated as good by Ofsted for delivering apprenticeships, Hull Training and Adult Education (HTAE), a part of Hull City Council, is one of the largest providers of vocational training, apprenticeships and further education in the region with an excellent reputation for delivering quality courses to industry. Due to increased demand, we are now looking to add to our team of skilled tutors in the Mechanical Engineering department.

We are seeking an inspiring and enthusiastic tutor with relevant Mechanical Engineering qualifications and experience of working in the industry. While previous teaching experience is preferred, we have an excellent record of teacher training and encourage anyone who feels they have the skills and the ability to pass on their knowledge to learners to apply.

We are looking for individuals who can make a significant contribution to developing the skills of the next generation of engineers. The candidate will be responsible for delivering a blend of practical and theoretical sessions to students, preparing them for successful careers in the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging learning programs aligned with mechanical engineering apprenticeship standards.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, workshops, and hands-on labs.
  • Provide clear instruction and guidance on Mechanical Engineering Principles, machining, fitting, CNC operation, and CAD software.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that motivates and inspires students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and program delivery.
  • Participate in curriculum development and improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with employers through our Employers Engagement Team to ensure program alignment with industry needs.
  • Conduct employer site visits to provide support and guidance to apprentices/students in the workplace.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualifications (e.g., HNC, HND, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience working in the mechanical engineering industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students in a learning environment.
  • Commitment to high standards and a passion for mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with teaching or training (preferred, but strong industry experience can be considered).
  • Experience with machining/fitting/CNC/CAD would be an added benefit.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
  • Supportive and collaborative work environment.
  • Continuous Professional Development opportunities.
  • The chance to work with a leading provider of vocational training.

If you're a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for teaching and a desire to empower the next generation, we encourage you to apply!
