At Hull City Council we are committed to our children and young people and we are passionate about how we deliver services to them.

That’s why we are developing and nurturing a culture that puts our children and young people at the heart of everything we do - by empowering our workforce to work together to find solutions, to be open, honest and respectful, to take responsibility and listen and learn from others. Our full ILACS inspection confirmed that services and outcomes for many children in Hull have improved and have continued to improve further over the last two years.

If you value these behaviours too, we’d love to hear from you. Hull is a changing local authority and it’s a fantastic time to join us and be a key player in supporting our journey.

The Head of Service for Resources (placements and children’s homes) will be joining the team at a time of significant success. In recent years, we have developed and strengthened our Edge of Care support, short breaks and significantly increased the number and range of local children’s homes, significantly improving our placement choice and local sufficiency for children.

We now have 16 children’s homes, all look after smaller groups of children including a number of solo and two bed homes. Not only do we have more choice and local flexibility, we are incredibly proud that our homes provide high quality care for children with all, except one, currently judged as Outstanding or Good by Ofsted at their most recent inspection.

In addition, we are proud that our fostering service has also grown significantly in recent years with much to celebrate. We have extended our supported lodgings and shared tenancy schemes for older young people and have a clear focus around what we want to achieve in the coming years. So much achieved and always more to do!

Why it's great to work for Hull City Council:

  • A competitive salary of £70,228
  • An excellent pension through the Local Government Pension scheme (LGPS)
  • Up to 33 days annual leave depending on grade and length of service. You will also get eight public holidays per year, and three additional days off
  • Career development and learning experiences from a range of training and learning methods
  • A generous relocation package
  • Supportive and forward thinking culture
