Tidal power

A £1m prototype tidal stream demonstrator, designed by local company Neptune Renewable Energy, is being installed on the north bank of the Humber.

The tidal stream demonstrator will convert the power of the tide into electricity, as the water passes through the porteus turbine during the high and low tide cycle.

The proteus will generate 500kw of electricity and during its three month river trial will provide electricity for The Deep.
