Committees and meetings

Council decisions that do not concern day-to-day service delivery are discussed and decided in committees. Hull City Council has a number of committees, all with a distinct purpose and area of influence. The committees meet on a regular basis.

Once a month all councillors will meet at a Full Council meeting. You can view these live through a webcast: more details at the bottom of this page.

Dates and times of meetings and agendas are published before meetings, minutes are published as soon as possible after a meeting. You can be view these using the application below.

Attendance and speaking at meetings
Members of the public can attend most public committee meetings.

In addition to attending certain meetings do allow some public participation. The Cabinet and Area Committees, for example, allow a period of between 15 and 30 minutes for public questions to be considered. These may need to be provided in writing beforehand. It is also possible, with prior approval, to speak at the Full Council meeting when presenting a petition or when representing a deputation. To find out more, please call (01482) 300 300 or contact the officer identified on the relevant published agenda (follow the “Agendas and minutes” link below).

It is also possible to speak at the Planning Committee on certain planning applications. For information on the rules and procedures for speaking at meetings of the committee please follow the link “Planning committee” at the left of this screen and then “More information on the Planning Committee”.

Get involved: make your voice heard
There are three main ways in which you can have your say on local matters. Councillors’ surgeries are held at least once a month in every ward in the city. You can also meet your councillors through area committees, which make decisions relevant to each of Hull’s seven areas.

Smaller ward or neighbourhood forums have also been set up to enable issues to be discussed at grass-roots level. If you are unable to make any of these meetings, you can also contact your local councillor by email or telephone.
