Local history of Hull - 28/01/2010

Hull City Council's history services team is offering a free, five week local history course for beginners at The Avenues Library, starting on Friday 29 January.

The course will look at the history of life in Hull, covering the following topics:

- traditional local industries, including whaling and fishing
- the story of the children of Hull including education, social welfare and popular culture
- good times and bad times including the depression years and recovery after World War II
- Hull at leisure in the 19th and 20th century
- film footage of bygone Hull

The course will run for five weeks, every Friday from 10am - 12noon. Places are limited so booking is essential by calling the library on 331 280.
