Woman in swimming hatSwimming lessons

We run swimming lessons at -

The total cost of the course will vary with the length of each course (there are different numbers of lessons depending on which course you attend). Children and senior citizen lessons cost £3.90 per lesson and adult lessons cost £4.90 per lesson.

Classes

Everyone can enjoy our swimming lessons, from six month old children to senior citizens. The lessons help to build confidence with being in the water. We also offer more advanced classes through our links with the Amateur Swimming Association and the Kingston Upon Hull Swimming Club.

The lessons run weekly during school term time. You can do up to three courses a year, with the option of topping up with crash courses held during the summer.

Parent and child classes

Parent and child classes are a great way of introducing very young children to water. The classes are aimed at children from six to 36 months old. They teach adults and children how to enjoy themselves in the water while learning in a safe environment. The classes are run by qualified teachers.

Ducklings

Ducklings swimming lessons are for three and four year old children. The lessons help the children to -

  • move freely, and on their own, in the water
  • gain confidence in the water

Level 1 - 5, Bronze, Silver, Gold challenge awards

These courses are for children aged five to 15 years old. They help children to progress from beginner to advanced swimmer level. Each level has stroke, skill and distance requirements.

Children under the age of eight must wear armbands in our pools unless they have achieved the Level 3 challenge award or above. Level 3 covers skills such as -

  • swimming two widths of breast stroke
  • swimming two widths of backstroke
  • swimming two widths of front crawl
  • swimming two lengths without stopping
  • treading water out of standing depth for 20 seconds
  • swimming through a submerged hoop in shoulder depth water
  • picking up an object from the bottom of the pool in shoulder depth water
  • sculling 10 metres

Adult swimming lessons

Our adult swimming lessons are for anyone 16 years old or over. If you are a beginner, you will learn to be more confident in the water. If you are a more advanced swimmer, you will benefit from technique and stroke work.

Swimming teachers

All our swimming teachers are fully qualified to ASA Level 2 or equivalent. They hold the National Pool Lifeguard qualification or Teachers Rescue Test Certificate.
