Copies of birth certificates

We can supply copies of birth certificates for records relating to Hull from 1837 onwards.

Certificates and costs

There are two types of certificate available –

• Standard (full) birth certificate - this is a full copy of a birth entry and includes particulars of the child, parentage and registration
  
  
• Short birth certificate - This shows only the first name(s), surname, sex, date of birth and district of birth. Many places will not accept short certificates as evidence of nationality or identity
  

*If you use the 24 hour premium service, certificates ordered before 4pm will be available for collection after 3pm the following working day. Applications received before 4pm on a Friday will be ready after 3pm the following Monday.

How to apply

To apply for a birth certificate, please download and complete the relevant form below.

You can either post your application form and payment or deliver your application form to The Wilson Centre on Alfred Gelder Street.

To request a birth certificate please ensure you tell us the following details in your application form -

• date of birth
• place of birth
