Training and development in social services

We organise training for all staff working in our social care teams, as well as to staff working in health, education and youth services.

We also deliver a range of training to private and voluntary sector organisations and support the training and development of foster carers.

Our Hull Accredited Assessment Centre is responsible for the provision of NVQ qualifications to social care staff, in line with national standards.

We -

• support social work students through the provision of a traineeship scheme and student placements
• provide post-qualifying awards to social work qualified staff working in the social care field
• supports managers of services through team building, commissioning external training and consultancy, and by organising and hosting key speakers visiting Hull
• maintains the register of social workers with the General Social Care Council

This training and development helps Hull City Council to meet Investors in People standards through the running of the Personal Performance and Development procedure in the social care field.
