You will be asked to apply for your three preferences of schools. You should name the school you want most as your first preference in your application.
The deadline for applications for secondary school places for the 2013-2014 school year is midnight on 31 October 2012.
How to apply if you live outside the Hull City Council boundary
If you wish to apply for a school place in Hull and you do not live in the Hull City Council boundary, you must apply for the school place using your local authority’s application process.
For example, if you live in East Riding of Yorkshire you must apply for a school place in Hull by using East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s application process. Please contact your council for more information on their application process.
Late applications
It is very important that you complete and submit your application stating what your preferences are by Wednesday 31 October 2012. If you do not get your online application or form in by this date you may find that all the places at your preferred schools have been taken up by pupils whose applications were in on time.
In exceptional circumstances (for example families moving to the city after the closing date), late applications may be considered up to the end of January 2013. Changes of preference after the closing date for applications on 31 October 2012 will be considered as a late application unless the change is considered to be unavoidable in the opinion of the admissions authority (for example parents move into the area).
What happens after you have applied
A letter will be sent to you on 1 March 2013 to confirm school allocations and rights of appeal where necessary.
If you are unsuccessful in obtaining a place at your preferred school, the options available to you are -
- accept a place at the school allocated
- consider requesting a place at an alternative secondary school which still has vacancies by submitting your request in writing to the admissions team at the address below
- appeal against the decision – even if you are allocated your second or third preference school, you may submit an appeal for your preferred school
