A community park officially opens following redevelopment - 31/07/2012
The official opening of the Noddle Hill Playground will take place on Friday 3 August by The Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull and Admiral of the Humber, Councillor Danny Brown.

The community playground is open for business; in time for the school summer holidays and adjoins the Bransholme Lakes Local Nature Reserve, so even more reason to visit.

Hull City Council's Sports Development Team will offer a varierty of fun activities from 11am and asking young people what activities they would like to see in the park during the summer holidays. They will be helping with the celebrations as well as running the family orienteering day taking place in the Nature Area from 1 - 3pm where families can learn how to find their way round.

A new community paramedic, Paul Houghton will be attending on the day to introduce himself to local residents. His role is to provide a quick response medic service for the area, and having local knowledge of the estate allows him to be in a better position to respond to calls. Humberside Police and Humberside Fire and Rescue will also be attending the official opening. The police will give advice on staying safe around the area and being aware of dangers around the lake.

The redevelopment has seen a transformation of the site with all the equipment being renewed, paths laid and a landscaped area. The playground has swings, slide, trampoline, revamped zip line along with paths and landscaping, and follows on from the fishing lake and wildlife area becoming an official Nature Reserve. There are seats and picnic tables but it also boasts a climbing frame and climbing wall, with cycle humps for the more adventurous!

Councillor Anita Harrison, Bransholme East ward member, said:

"I hope all the young people in the area will really enjoy using the park and take an interest in its upkeep. I wish all the young people a happy and active summer, as there is a host of other events happening throughout North Carr this summer."

Councillor Peter Clark, Chair of the North Carr Area Committee and also local ward Member said:

"It's great news for The Garths area and local community. It breathes new life in to the park and we hope that all children, young people and families will enjoy the new facilities."

Over the summer holidays local children can get involved in creating signs for the playground and help to brighten up the park rangers building. You can do this by contacting the rangers in the park. This is part of an initiative supported by the ward Councillors, as well as the North Carr Area Team and the Parks team within the Council.
