Hull City Council's libraries team is inviting young people to join their summer reading challenge called Story Lab, and "Step into the story lab". which starts on 14 July.
Anyone who completes the Story Lab challenge receives a medal and certificate presented at local libraries and schools. The challenge starts from Saturday 14 July and runs until 8 September.
The aim is to encourage young people to join their local library, free of charge, and read six books throughout the summer. They can collect a range of gifts along the way and be entered into a prize draw.
Throughout the summer local libraries will also be running free activity and sessions based on the theme of the summer reading challenge.
Councillor Terry Geraghty, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said:
"The aim of the challenge is to get children to read six books from their library during the summer holidays and reduce the 'summer holiday dip' in many children's reading achievement.
"There are many local libraries across the city for children and young people to go to during their summer break. I hope they use this opportunity to enjoy reading whilst also having the chance to win a great prize."
