Road safety nostalgia exhibits serious message at Streetlife - 03/07/2012
Streetlife Museum is running an exhibition of road safety communications called 'Don't Do It' starting on Saturday (7 July).
The exhibition, which will display road safety campaigns through the ages, including TV adverts and vintage posters from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, will run until the end of the year.
In addition to the exhibition, Miles Kingsport Hull have lent a brand new Honda Fireblade motorcycle for display in the entrance hall of the museum.
This is part of a promotion of BikeSafe, a police-led initiative to encourage safe motorcycling skills for riders who have already passed their test. For more information see: www.bikesafe.co.uk
Robin Diaper, Curator of Maritime and Social History, said:
"Many of the posters and adverts will be fondly remembered by people, and we hope visitors enjoy the exhibition.
"There is also a serious message in the exhibition, and we have timed it to be open during the summer holidays when children will be out and about more."
