The prestigious Guildhall tower clock will be having essential maintenance work from Monday 25 June to Friday 29 June, meaning the clock will not be chiming or striking for these days.
The mechanisms of the clock have been in place since 1865 and still power the four-face tower clock today. The original bells have more recently been joined by a carillon, a collection of bells which play together to form a melody.
The grandeur and history of the clock mechanisms are being passed onto others through tours of the Guildhall tower by the clock custodian, who has cared for the clock for over 50 years.
