Lord Chamberlain accepts Hull's Loyal Address - 22/06/2012
A Loyal Address was delivered to Buckingham Palace to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Councillor Colin Inglis, in his previous role as Lord Mayor of Hull, took the Loyal Address to London for Alan Johnson MP and Baroness Virginia Bottomley of Nettlestone, Chancellor of Hull University, to present on behalf of the citizens of Hull.
The Lord Chamberlain, The Earl Peel, accepted the Address on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen.
The Loyal Address was contained in a special casket which was prepared by Hull College. The Lord Mayor's Office approached the college and joinery student, Antony Cockerill, jumped at the chance to be involved and took great pleasure in helping manufacture the casket, along with college staff. Keith Knight, a technician at the college spent many hours working to develop the imagery for the two crests proudly displayed on the top of the casket - Hull City Council crest and the Admiral of the Humber crest.
The scroll expresses thanks from the citizens of Hull for Her Majesty's dedication to the people of the United Kingdom throughout her reign and for the several visits to Kingston upon Hull.
