A new way of fun way of keeping fit is starting next week in East Park.
Nordic Walking will start at East Park from Monday 25 June at 1.30pm and is a great full body work out. Nordic Walking is the same as normal walking but you walk with two specially designed poles which push you along using 90 per cent of your body muscles.
People from beginners through to experienced Nordic Walkers are welcome to come along. During the first 30 minutes of the session people will be able to learn the technique and get tips from the experienced instructors. Afterwards there will be a walk around East Park.
Councillor Terry Geraghty, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said:
"I have tried Nordic Walking and found it really enjoyable. It's great that we're able to add Nordic Walking to the range available as part of Active Hull programme. Nordic Walking is good for all ages and has great health benefits. Active Hull has lots of fun activities that people can take part in to help them get fitter and I hope that people will come along and try our new Nordic Walking activity."
The sessions are free and there is just £1 charge if people need to hire poles, although people are welcome to bring their own poles if they have some.
