Celebrate the arrival of the Torch in West Park - 14/06/2012
The celebration event at West Park will be a fantastic free family-friendly evening with arts and entertainment for everyone, showcasing the Olympic dream and best of local talent! It's alcohol-free with the emphasis firmly on family fun.

The event starts at 4:30pm with music and video and is scheduled to finish at 8pm.

At 5:30pm their will be a performance called 'Broad Horizons' that demonstrates Hull is a place with big possibilities and big skies. It features young performers, costumed characters - toads, waltzers, KC phone boxes and sharks - poetry, theatre, dance and fun elements involving Hull KR, Hull FC and Hull City, all linked to Hull's iconic places.

There will be live music and performance organised by official Olympic Torch Relay Presenting Partners Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung - including indie rock band Little Comets, dance act Twist and Pulse from Britain's Got Talent, and a fusion of street theatre, sports and acrobatic performance.

The Lord Mayor will deliver a speech, followed by a countdown to the arrival of the Torch at 7:20pm and the lighting of a cauldron to celebrate the Olympic Flame coming to Hull!

There'll be VIP guests and interviews with the Torchbearers, as well as a second 'Broad Horizons' performance at 7:30pm. This performance focusses on the future and sustainability of the city, with Hull as a place of opportunity. There will be almost 150 members of the Freedom Chorus dressed as a wind farm!

Throughout the evening there will be the chance to take part in exciting activities organised by the Olympic Presenting partners, including fun interactive games, photo opportunities, and a chance to be part of internationally renowned DJ Mark Ronson's search for the 'Beat of London 2012'.

Thousands of people from Hull and beyond are expected to come along and join in the fun. Space will be limited, so get there early if you want to be a part of it!

Food and drink will be available on site.

Walton Street will be closed from 1pm-10pm to provide event and emergency vehicles access to West Park. Also, the Anlaby Road flyover will be closed from 6:45pm-7:30pm when the Torch passes over it, on its way to West Park.

The only parking available at the event site will be for disabled permit holders who will need to pre-arrange parking in advance by contacting the Hull City Council Events Team on 01482 612 022.

There will be slow moving traffic on the day, so travel early if you have to.
