Businesses urged to join the Heroes Welcome at Chamber Expo 2012 - 08/06/2012

Local businesses across the city will be encouraged to join the Heroes Welcome at the Chamber Expo 2012.

Hull City Council and 150 Yorkshire Transport Regiment will be on hand to talk to businesses about joining the Heroes Welcome and to raise awareness of the transferable skills that ex service personnel have when leaving the Armed Forces.

Captain Adrian Blanchard from 150 Yorkshire Transport Regiment based in Hull, said:
"We want as many businesses in the city to join up and support the Heroes Welcome. By working in partnership with Hull City Council we feel we can achieve this with help from our local business community."

Councillor Steve Walker, who led negotiations to develop the Armed Forces and Veterans Charter, said:
"Our city is a very friendly city and the Heroes Welcome initiative is another way of extending its traditionally warm welcome to all sections of the community. We owe members of the armed forces a huge debt of gratitude. The Heroes Welcome scheme is a simple but effective way of showing how we appreciate all they do and have done for our city and our country."

"For this reason I hope that the Heroes Welcome will be warmly received by our business community at the event next week. I also want to say a huge thank you to the businesses that have already sign up to the scheme".

The Humber region's largest annual business event organised by the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce takes place on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 June at the Bonus Arena on Walton Street.
