Hull City Centre will step back in time at the weekend - when the Museums Quarter is invaded by Romans.
From 11am to 4pm, on Saturday 9 June, Hull and East Riding Museum will be hosting a free Gladiator Day in the Museums Quarter gardens on High Street in Hull.
Visitors will come face-to-face with Maximus, a Roman Centurion at the free fun-packed day devoted to all things Roman.
Two gladiators will also be battling out in the gardens, a Roman potter will be at work and visitors will be able to find out what it was like to live in East Yorkshire during the Roman period.
Children can also join the museum's Time Troopers club on the day where they will be able to try on Roman helmets and make a shield to take away.
There will also be a number of places available on half hour sessions - at 11 am, 12 noon, 1 pm and 2 pm - for children, aged from six to 12 to dress up like a real Roman soldiers and learn battle tactics with Maximus. Please call 01482 300 300 to book onto one of these sessions.
