Food business fails to dispose of waste - 17/05/2012
A Hull business has been prosecuted for two offences of section 34 offences under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 failing to use an authorised waste carrier to dispose their waste.
On 30 October 2011, Mr Charlie Mir owner of Ray's Place, Princes Avenue, failed to use an authorised waste carrier to transfer and dispose his waste and as a result the waste was fly tipped. The waste from the restaurant ended up in a tenfoot on Park Avenue, Hull, causing complaints from local residents due to the amount of waste. Hull City Council removed the fly tipped waste and cost the Council £306.
The two offences are failing to take steps to prevent a fly tip from taking place and failing to use an authorised waste carrier to dispose their waste.
Charlie Mir attended court on 13 April 2012 and pleaded guilty to two section 34 offences under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. He received an Order of Conditional Discharge for 12 months and was ordered to pay £250 costs.
Justine Mortimer, Neighbourhood Nuisance Manager, said:
