Lecture in memory of 'inspiring' historian - 12/04/2012
Hull and District Local History Research Group will hold the first Christopher Ketchell Memorial Lecture on Thursday 26 April at 10am at Hull History Centre.
This lecture, the first of what will be an annual event in Christopher's memory, will be by Dr David Neave of the University of Hull and is titled Hull Architects of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries.
The lecture will be followed by the unveiling of a plaque in Chris's memory at the History Centre.
Christopher, who died at the age of 66 in January 2011, is remembered with great affection by his many students as a pioneer conservationist, inspiring teacher of local history and supervisor of Hull College's Local History Archive Unit for over 20 years.
Some of those students, who formed the Hull and District Local History Research Group, have set up the annual lecture in Chris's memory.
David Sherwood, Chair of the Hull and District Local History Research Group said: "Chris Ketchell was such an inspiring figure we wanted to ensure that he received some permanent commemoration in the city. We're glad that the History Centre is keen to host our tribute."
The event is free, but tickets are limited. Call Hull History Centre on 01482 317500 to reserve your place.
