East Hull community cafe reopens - 12/04/2012
East Hull residents will shortly have another choice of where they can catch up with friends over a coffee or grab a bite to eat as a community cafe re-opens next week.

The Acorns Cafe, based at the Acorn Children's Centre on Nestor Grove, will be open from 8am - 2pm Monday - Friday. The cafe, which was formerly privately run, is being re-opened by Hull City Council after the previous owners moved on to pastures new.

Rachel Roberts, Assistant Head of Service for the Children and Young People's Service, said:

"We have 21 Children's Centres across the city and they offer a great range of services to families such as childcare, playgroups, offering advice on health, home safety, jobs, training and benefits for parents along with general family support.

"As families visit the cafe at the Acorns Children Centre we hope it will encourage them to take advantage of the other facilities that are on offer to them, as they are a great place to meet and become involved in the local community."

Chris Ford, Catering Manager for Hull Catering, said:

"We are proud to be working with the Acorns Children's Centre and we hope that over the coming months, the Cafe will become a great business venture. The cafe is in a great location for parents and carers of young people and their families from the area who can enjoy a break from the daily routine

"We know that many local people missed having this cafe around, so we're pleased that we have been able to re-open it and look forward to welcoming customers old and new."
