Failure to pick up dog mess costs owner #315 - 12/04/2012
Hull City Council is urging dog owners to clean up after their pets following the latest fixed penalty notice issued for failing to pick up their dog mess.
Dog owner Dawn Jones was served with a fixed penalty notice (FPN) by a PCSO for failing to clean up after her pet on 4 November 2011 at Cumbrian Way, Bransholme. Miss Jones subsequent failure to pay the FPN led to a prosecution brought by Hull City Council.
Miss Jones from Redmire Close, Bransholme failed to attend Hull Magistrates Court on 23 March 2012 and in her absence was fined £175 with £125 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Justine Mortimer, Hull City Council's Neighbourhood Nuisance Manager, said:
"This is an ongoing problem as some dog owners are not being responsible for picking up their dogs waste. To help the Council take action against those who do not pick up their dog mess we need people to report them to us."
If you have information to identify someone for not cleaning up their dog fouling you can contact the Council in confidence by emailing enviro.crime@hullcc.gov.uk, visiting www.hullcc.gov.uk calling 01482 300 300.
