Premises shut down following environmental health inspection - 29/03/2012
A Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order was granted by Hull Magistrates on the 20th March for Four Seasons, 424 Beverley Road.
It followed a visit to the premises by Hull City Council Environmental Health Officers in response to a complaint made by a member of the public. The business was closed by the means of a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Notice.
The premises had previously been closed by Environmental Health Officers on the 23rd December 2011 and allowed to reopen on the 18th January 2012.
Trevor Todd, Assistant Head of Citysafe (Public Protection), said:
"Following their inspection Environmental Health Officers believed that the premises posed a serious and imminent risk to public health because the premises and equipment were dirty throughout, there were food contamination issues and the staff had little or no knowledge of how to run a food business safely. These conditions left the officers with little option other than to immediately close the business and apply to the Magistrates for a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order. However, the Environmental Health Officers will continue to work closely with the business with a view to resolving the problems. Once we are satisfied there is no longer any risk to public health the business will be allowed to re-open."
The inspection resulted in the Four Seasons being rated zero on the new national scoring scheme that Hull City Council has recently moved to. The business will receive close attention from Environmental Health Officers to ensure that satisfactory improvements are promptly made.
The food hygiene rating scheme is a national system and is already used by more than 180 other councils. It is used to reflect the standard of food hygiene, not the quality of the food, at places to eat and where food is sold.
