Freedom Road Creative Arts (FRCA) has received a grant of almost £60,000 from Children in Need to support its work over the next three years.
FRCA is a local charity focused on empowering children and young people through creative and performing arts, and is responsible for producing successful local band Freedom Road. The charity works closely with Hull City Council's Rights and Participation Project (RAPP) to provide opportunities for children and young people who have had sometimes difficult or troubled backgrounds.
This funding will give the charity much more stability and enable them to sustain the existing provision, which has already achieved significant success in Hull and the surrounding regions.
Iain Thompson, Creative Coordinator at FRCA thinks the grant will be a massive step towards securing the charity's long-term future. He said:
"This funding is a foundation which allows us to build from here over the next three years. By no means can we relax, the hard work starts here, but it gives us the security to work towards self sufficiency and cement the charity as a key component of the city's youth services."
