Clough Road will remain closed to all traffic until Sunday evening (28 June) to allow Yorkshire Water to repair the water main that burst yesterday afternoon. Motorists should avoid the area unless they are visiting premises on Clough Road between Bankside and Minton Street.
It is anticipated there will be lane closures on Beverley Road at the junction with Clough Road, towards the city centre, today between 1800 hours and 2100 hours and tomorrow between 0800 hours and 1100 hours.
The extent of the damage to the road surface means that there will be a need for partial reconstruction. To enable this to be undertaken, Clough Road will be closed to westbound traffic between Ryde Avenue and Beverley Road from Monday 29 June for two weeks.
Diversions are in place and motorists wanting to travel eastbound along Clough Road are advised to use one of the following diversions:
* Bankside, Air Street, Sculcoates Lane and Beverley Road, or;
* Stoneferry Road, Holwell Road, Sutton Road and Beverley Road.
To enable reconstruction work to be completed Clough Road will be closed between Beverley Road and Bankside to all traffic on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July. Access will be maintained at all times to premises between Bankside and Minton Street, pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
