Join Lord Mayor and local celebrities to celebrate Christmas - 26/11/2008
A special night filled with carols, celebrity readings and music will be held at the beginning of December as part of the Christmas festivities taking place in Hull.

The Celebrity Carol Concert, hosted by the Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull, Councillor Elaine Garland, will take place at the award winning Streetlife Museum, in the city's historic old town on Thursday 4 December 2008.

Presenting the prestigious Carol Concert will be Blair Jacobs of BBC Radio Humberside. Blair will introduce the celebrity readers for the evening, who include BBC Look North's Caroline Davis, star of 'Allo 'Allo Vicki Michelle, playwright Jane Thornton and Elizabeth and Martha Godber. The celebrities will read items of their choice about Christmas.

During the concert there will be music from the city's own Hymers College Choir and Kingston Brass Quintet.

To book your ticket for this exciting annual event, contact the Lord Mayor's office on 01482 615093. Tickets cost £20 for premier seating and £15 for standard seating. The price includes the concert and complimentary drinks and mince pies, to be served after the concert. As tickets are limited to 250, they are booked on a first come, first served basis so book early to avoid disappointment.

All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal Fund, which is supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care and Hull Rape Crisis this year.

Doors open at 7pm with the concert commencing at 7.30pm.
