Enable your health

Enable is a free, fun and friendly programme delivered by nutritionists and lifestyle coaches which supports you to lose weight and keep it off. You will have a personalised assessment followed by a 12 week intensive weekly programme.

Our sessions are delivered in the health centres and a range of community venues. Classes are 90 minutes long - 45 minutes nutrition and 45 minutes exercise. You can then ‘check in and chat’ at any of our ongoing sessions so our staff can find out how you are getting on and provide additional support.

To be eligible you need to have a BMI between 25 and 39.9 (or up to 35 if you have comorbidities). If you are unsure if you are eligible, please check with your GP and ask for a referral to Enable or telephone the office for advice. 

Food Activity Balance - Family Weight Management programme

Food Activity Balance (FAB) is a fun and friendly weight management service which helps families eat healthier and exercise more.

Sessions are held in Health Centres and schools across the city and are fun and engaging, lasting 90 minutes and comprise one hour of nutritional information and 30 minutes of exercise and games.

Families attend eight weekly sessions followed by monthly ‘Moving Forward’ groups to check progress and for support.

The sessions are based on healthy choices, and cover portion sizes, fussy eating and lots of practical activities. Small changes add up to big health benefits.

To be eligible one child in the family needs to be of school age (four to 17) and have a BMI centile of between 91st and 98th centile.
