Children's gallery

Come and see the ‘gallery within a gallery' aimed at children aged six to 10 years old. It also has much to offer slightly younger children and much to teach the adults who accompany them!

This colourful and stimulating environment is packed with activities that aim to help children develop the confidence and skills to investigate works of art. The collection includes paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and sculptures.

Children also have the opportunity to find out about artists, learn new 'arty' words, experience the different materials used by artists of all periods and learn about different techniques used by artists. Ferens the Gallery Cat, the popular character created by leading poet Roger McGough, also makes frequent appearances as a guide!

Developed in close liaison with local children, teachers and educational specialists, the gallery targets the development of literacy skills and the study of history. Learning about art has never been so much fun!
