We are committed to keeping communities together and to supporting people directly affected by the changes that could take place in Orchard Park.
A package of financial assistance and support will be available to help people through the process and a local regeneration team will be set up to provide advice and practical help on your doorstep.
Financial help
Financial assistance packages are available to tenants, home owners and landlords affected by demolition. The package is reviewed regularly so is subject to change, but the figures below highlight what is currently on offer –
Tenants If you have lived in the property continuously for at least one year, the financial help currently on offer includes –
- home loss compensation of £4,700
- a disturbance payment to compensate you for the cost of moving home
- our equity mortgage scheme, Hull Home Assist, may also be of interest to tenants who would like to get a foot on the property ladder and buy their own home
Home owners If you own your own home and have lived in the property continuously for at least one year, the financial help currently on offer includes –
- the market value of your existing property – as agreed between your own independent surveyor and a surveyor working on our behalf
- home loss compensation of £4,700 or 10 per cent of the agreed market value of your home – whichever is the greater
- up to £250 towards the cost of independent financial advice
- reasonable legal and valuation fees be paid in full
- a disturbance payment to compensate you for the cost of moving home
- in addition, you may be able to access Hull Home Assist, an equity mortgage scheme specially created for people affected by our regeneration plans
Landlords As a landlord you are currently offered –
- the market value of your property, as agreed between your own independent surveyor and a surveyor working on our behalf
- basic loss payment of 7.5 per cent of the value, providing you have owned the property for one year or more
- reasonable legal and valuation fees paid in full
- support towards investment in a replacement property may also be available
