Bus routes

There are loads of buses going to the cinemas, town centre, and other places you might like to chill out in and they can be cheap and frequent - perfect! Check out the bus routes and timetables (link opens in a new window).

Cycle routes

Cycling can be fun, healthy and a cheap way to get around.

There are loads of routes you and your mates can explore as well as safer routes to school. Check out the cycle routes in Hull (link opens in a new window)

Push Iron Project - learn how to build your own bike

Are you aged between 16 and 21? Would you like to learn how to build and maintain bikes? If you answered yes, the Push Iron Project is for you!

At the project you will learn how to strip, paint and re-assemble a bicycle over six weeks. You will also complete a ride out with the group, so when your bike is complete you can feel confident you can go on to get around on your own.

When you’ve finished the project not only will you get to keep your bike (complete with lights and locks), you will also receive a Youth Achievement Award.

Safe cycling

Check out the following top tips to keep you safe on your bike -

  • always let your parent or carer know where you are going with your bike
  • be well trained and keep in control of your bike
  • always wear a well fitting helmet
  • be seen! Wear bright clothes and use lights after dark so drivers can notice you
  • be alert when you’re on your bike – follow traffic signs and signals and make sure you have a good look round and behind you before making any moves
  • there are cycle parking spaces throughout the city where you can lock up your bike
  • always plan your route - try and use cycle paths or cycle routes

Keep your bike safe

  • Always make sure your bike is safely locked up - 3.5 bikes a day are stolen in Hull so LOCK YOUR BIKE UP - even at home
  • Speak to a community warden about cycle ID cards. These can help you get your bike back if it gets nicked
  • At night always lock your bike up in a well lit spot
  • Whenever you leave your bike make sure you put a lock through the frame and always take anything off the bike that could be stolen like lights or pumps
