 | Orchard Park private finance initiative (PFI)
In October 2008, we submitted an initial bid to the government asking for funding from the private finance initiative (PFI) to regenerate Orchard Park.
More information about the private finance initiative (PFI)
The bid was approved in principle in June 2009 and we have been provisionally allocated up to £160 million of funding. To receive the funding, we must first put together a detailed bid, ready for submission to the government in the autumn.
The development of the bid will be hugely reliant on local community and stakeholder involvement.
Second stage consultation – draft regeneration plan
In February and March, a first period of public consultation saw hundreds of local people turn out to have their say on two options for transforming the Danes and the Thorpes areas of Orchard Park.
The views of local residents and stakeholders have shaped the development of a draft regeneration plan, which sets out in detail when and where changes could happen.
The plan proposes a ‘build first, demolish later’ approach that could see the building of up to 680 new, eco-friendly, modern homes along with improvements to roads and green spaces.
A second stage of consultation will take place throughout July and we will be holding a number of information events across Orchard Park to give everyone the chance to view on comment on the proposals.

 | Supporting residents through the changes
All residents whose homes are earmarked for demolition under the draft regeneration plan are being offered the chance to book a one-to-one meeting with a housing liaison officer who will explain in detail the options open to them.
Although the changes will not happen overnight and there will be consultation throughout the process, we are keen to ensure all those people who may be affected understand what the plans mean to them and what compensation and relocation support will be on offer.
If you are a resident of Orchard Park and your property has been identified for demolition, please call 01482 300 300 to book your one-to-one appointment.
