Clued up on emergency planning
Sometimes emergencies happen that disrupt our daily lives, like the floods of 2007, major traffic accidents or power cuts. Whilst we can’t always stop these things from happening, we can plan ahead to help reduce how much they affect us.
You can help by being clued up about what to do should the unexpected happen.
How we plan for emergencies
Your local council works with the emergency services and other organisations like the Environment Agency and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency to prepare for unexpected events. They have plans ready in case an emergency happens.
In the first stages of an emergency, the priority is to protect people and property and then to help communities to recover as quickly as possible.
