What is the Diploma?

The Diploma is a new qualification that young people aged 14-19 years can study alongside GCSEs and A levels. With the Diploma, you will enjoy hands-on, practical learning, choosing to study subjects that interest you.

The Diploma gives you the opportunity to learn in an exciting, creative and enjoyable way, combining class work with hands-on experience.

The Diploma gives you the skills, knowledge and experience you will need for college, university or work, letting you keep your options open.

All Diplomas will require a student to achieve a minimum standard in functional English, maths and ICT, complete a project and do a minimum of 10 days work experience.

Diplomas are not available yet in every school or college. Your teacher or careers adviser will tell you which subjects are available in your area. You might need to go to another school, college or Work Based Learning provider for some of your Diploma classes, but don't worry, your school or college will arrange this.

All schools can access Diplomas and you can find out more about each Diploma subject and where you can study it by talking to your teacher or careers adviser.

In 2009, you will be able to consider taking a Diploma in: Creative and Media
