Clued up on emergencies competition winner

The lucky winner of the under 13's Clued up on emergencies competition was Mandeep Nahl from Marfleet Primary. Mandeep was presented with his prize of a fantastic nelaptops on Monday 17 May at the Guildhall by the Lord Mayor of Kingston Upon Hull, Karen Woods and John Whiteman, Emergency Planning Manager.

The snowmanPeter Bolton sings in 'The Snowman'

Well done to Peter Bolton from Beverley who sang lead male solo in the City of Hull Youth Orchestra's performance of the Christmas classic 'The Snowman' at Hull City Hall on Friday 12th December. Peter was chosen as the lead solo after auditioning with other boys aged 9 to 13 years. 

Hull Christmas Lights Competition

A massive well done to Ryan Snitch from Malet Lambert and Sean Kemp from Northcott, winners of the Christmas Lights Switch On competition. Ryan and Sean are the lucky winners of two VIP invitations to join in the fun at the Christmas Lights Switch On.

Leon JacksonYou can join in the excitement too at the Christmas Lights Switch On on Thursday 20 November with last year's X Factor winner, Leon Jackson, Sam and Mark from Viking FM, Darren Lethem from Magic, chart-topping girl band, The Saturdays, Santa, the Lord Mayor and special guests.

On the night Santa and the Lord Mayor will leave the Guildhall at around 5.30pm led by the City of Hull Pipe Band and will travel along Lowgate, Market Place, Silver Street, Whitefriargate and into Queen Victoria Square.

As well as Santa and his reindeer, children will be delighted to see some of their other favourite characters including Hull City's Roary the Tiger, Hull FC Airlie Bird, Hull KR's Rufus the Robin and Viking's Buster the Bear.

Other entertainment will include the winners of the Viking FM school choirs competition and the ever-popular "Caroloke" - a carol singalong for the crowd with words to follow on the big screen.

Don't forget if you want to get hold of the new Children and Young People’s Disability Information Pack and DVD ring (01482) 318318 and ask for your own copy. The information pack is full of information about services for disabled children in Hull. The DVD has been made especially for children and young people who have disabilities or additional needs and shows lots of fun, exciting things to do in Hull.
