How things might change in Hull?

People who work with children and young people in Hull have been thinking of ways that education in Hull can be made better. Here are some of the ideas:

  • Create interactive learning files – where pupils across the city can talk to each other about things to do with school
  • Make the move from primary to secondary school easier for children
  • Make sure schools are in the centre of their community so they are handy, easy and safe to get to and use
  • Develop three academies - Pickering Sports Academy (Sirius), Archbishop Sentamu Academy (currently Archbishop Thurstan School - move to Preston Road) and Northern Academy (currently Sir Henry Cooper School).
  • Between 2009 and 2012 develop and re-model new buildings at Ganton School, Kelvin Hall School, Kingswood College of Arts, Winifred Holtby School, Tweendykes School and Andrew Marvell College (which will become a Trust School)
  • Improve existing buildings at Newland School for Girls, St Mary’s College, Malet Lambert, Hull Trinity House School, Bridgeview School, Ashwell Pupil Referral Unit, Northcott School and Schoolgirl Mums Pupil Referral Unit.
