East ParkThere is something for all the family in East Park. Among the attractions are -

  • a spectacular pavilion containing a cafĂ©, community room and public toilets. This building is also the nerve centre for the network of 30 CCTV cameras in the park
  • push-button help points so visitors can talk to an urban park ranger for assistance
  • 3500 new trees, many of which are native British species
  • two children’s play areas
  • superb access inside the park by a network of resurfaced footpaths
  • an animal education centre with classrooms to cater for school and college visits, with a large walk-through aviary so that visitors can see the park's resident animals and birds close up
  • nine aviaries in total and a farmyard including a pigsty and stables
  • an enclosed deer park, giving the best living conditions for the park's deer
  • bowling greens
  • paddling pool
  • boating/fishing lake and boat house
  • model yacht pond
  • waterchute
  • two football pitches and two rugby pitches

The park also has beautiful gardens, a maze and the 'Khyber Pass' rock feature. Open parkland is used for outdoor events, including sports.
