At Hull Young People’s Parliament children and young people set their own themes and agendas - not adults! The Parliament works to help change things that matter to children and young people. Ideas that come out of the Parliaments are sent to all City Councillors, Hull MP’s, Heads of Services, Local Authority Partners and the Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership to ensure children and young people’s views play an important part of the planning of services.

The Parliament meets three times a year and the seven Hull Young People's Parliaments to date have seen over 1,000 children and young people come through the doors of The Guildhall. Call (01482) 585 297 for more info. Find out more about the latest meeting of the Young People's Parliament below.

10th Hull Young People’s Parliament

On Tuesday 20th October, 178 children and young people from all over the city came together at The Guildhall for the tenth Hull Young People's Parliament.  The children and young people discussed education in Hull.

Download the report below to find out what was discussed.

As usual, the Hull Youth Council team will be trying to make sure that the resolutions are passed on to local decision makers so that action can be taken to hopefully make them happen!

If you would like more information about the Hull Young People’s Parliament, copies of previous reports or about how to become involved or to register your school or group - please contact Hull Youth Council on (01482) 585297 or e-mail us at hullyouthcouncil@hullcc.gov.uk

Get your hands on cash to make things better where you live

How cool would you and your mates feel if you got hold of some money from the Council to make things better where you live?

Get together with your mates, talk about your ideas and get a teacher or youth worker to help you write a bid that says why you need the money and what it will be used for.

Call (01482) 300 300 and ask for information about the Youth Opportunity Fund or Youth Capital Fund.

You could get involved in deciding where money from the Youth Opportunity Fund should be spent by having a say in which bids need it most.

In 2006 - 2007, over 120 projects were given funding with a huge range of activities and spaces transformed. Go on, give it a go!

New teenage library

The Central Library is planning to develop a library just for young people. Young people are getting involved and saying what they would like the space to look like, it’s name and the type of resources available. Please contact the Central Library on (01482) 210000 if you would like to be involved.
