“My best friend drives me mad sometimes! We have huge rows but then we make up after a day or two!”
Jada, 8
Why do we need friends?
Sometimes your friends might drive you mad and you might think you’re better off without them and their strops!
It’s important to know that you’re not alone in life – that there are people who will support you when you need it. Imagine having no one to share your feelings with or laugh at silly jokes with.
You shouldn’t have to pretend about anything with good friends and so sometimes you might fall out if you disagree about something. That’s normal!
Part of being a good friend is being honest and loyal.
I’m moving house and I’m worried about making new friends – help!
Making new friends isn’t always easy. Before you get to know someone well, it can be hard to know what they’re thinking or if you should trust them. Try these top tips:
- Clubs and activities are a great way to meet new friends without worrying about this!
- Buying friends with gifts doesn’t work.
- Don’t be tempted to show off or make things up about yourself.
- If you see someone who looks a bit lonely why not ask them to join in? You never know you might become best friends.
Sometimes if you want to fit in with a group you may do things which you wouldn’t normally do just because everyone else is doing it. Don’t feel pushed into doing anything you don’t feel right about. Practice saying no in front of the mirror.
