Homework

Why is it important to do my homework?

Homework is a good way to think about what you’ve learnt in school and to show your teacher that you can work on your own.

If you don’t do your homework you might fall behind other young people in your class.

I’m struggling with my homework - what should I do?

It's best to use a desk or table to do your homework rather than on your bed! You might end up nodding off!

Try to make sure you won't be distracted – fight the temptation to stick the TV on. It’ll be harder to do your work properly if your mind is only half on the job! Some people find playing music helps as well.

If you’re struggling with your homework talk to a teacher or see if your school runs an after school homework club.

If you don’t have a computer at home or can’t find anywhere quiet to work check out your local library. Hull Libraries offer free internet access to young people and each library has computers that can be used to write up your work and IT’S ALL FREE!!

Homework help

Libraries are a great place to find help with your homework. We have books on every topic and some reference books such as encyclopaedias.

You also have access to a number of online sources that we subscribe to. These services are available for free 24 hours a day from home, or from any library computer during normal opening hours. Just log onto the Hull City Council website, www.hullcc.gov.uk to gain access. All you need is your library membership number and PIN.
