ExamJam2010

What better way to finish Year 11 than at the Exam Jam event on Friday 17th September 2010, the exclusive party of the year for you and your mates!

If you’re at school in Hull and studying for your GCSEs you could be in with a chance of winning an invitation to the event as well as other amazing prizes. To qualify all you have to do is… do well in your exams.

If you’re up to the Challenge you could win -

- 14 individual prizes for the most improved student from each of the 14 secondary schools in Hull

- One of three 'money can't buy' prizes like driving a Ferrari round a racetrack

- An invitation to a live music event at the Hull Truck Theatre hosted by Hirsty from Galaxy Radio

- An overall prize for the winning school worth £3,000

These amazing prizes are being offered to this year's Year 11 pupils who show the most improvement between their mock exams, which took place in December and January, and their final GCSE exams in the summer.

Make sure you rise to the Challenge. As well as being in with a chance of winning these brilliant prizes if you do well in your GCSEs you can improve your career and further education opportunities.

As well as GCSEs and applied GCSEs your school may offer other options like diplomas, work-related qualifications and young apprenticeships.

From September 2008, some schools will be offering the new Diploma for 14 to 19 year olds. This offers a mix of classroom learning and hands-on experience. Follow the link to find out more:

Talk to teachers, a Connexions adviser, a parent or carer about your choices.

How do I know which subjects to choose?

Think about what you’re interested in and enjoy doing. Subjects can be both academic, traditional school subjects like geography and history, or vocational, courses about the world of work like business, leisure and tourism.

It's a good idea to take a broad range of subjects so that you can have a choice later on.

If you have an idea about the sort of job you might like to do ask your teacher what subjects might be useful or visit your school Connexions resource centre.

Don't choose a subject just because your friends have chosen it or because you like the teacher.

Will I be able to change my mind?

Whether you can change your mind about your options depends on your school. It’s important you speak to your teacher about it as soon as you think you might have made the wrong choice.

Don’t rush into any decisions you make about your future.
