What is a disability?

Having a disability can mean a lot of different things. Sometimes disabilities can be seen, sometimes they can’t.

Meeting people and making friends can be even more tough if you have a disability. Other people might tease or make fun of you because they don’t understand the condition you have.

If you know someone with a disability treat them the same as everyone else.

What services are there to help people with disabilities?

Someone with a disability might want to find out where to meet other young people with disabilities, how they can be more independent in the home or how their family can get advice and support.

The Children and Families Disability Team

Contact The Children and Families Disability Team on (01482) 886 521 for information and advice on available services. The team is based at The Children's Centre, 70 Walker Street, Hull .
