There are loads of reasons why it’s good to get active:

  • It keeps you at a healthy weight and also helps to keep your muscles toned and strong
  • It’s good for your heart and lungs – it can get your heart pumping and give it a good workout which helps make it stronger
  • Regular physical activity will improve how your brain works and help you get better at concentrating
  • When you’re active, your body releases chemicals called endorphins, which can give you a natural high and make you feel brilliant!

How can I be more active?

If you think you have to be mega sporty to keep fit think again…

There are loads of ways you can give your body the burst of activity it needs to stay strong and healthy. By making changes to your lifestyle you can become more active without even really noticing that much. Here are some ways:

  • Cycle to school instead of catching the bus
  • Get off the bus a few stops earlier than normal – make sure you know where you’re going and have enough time
  • Walk to school and use a pedometer to count the number of steps (or count yourself)
  • Stick your fave tunes on and have a boogie in your bedroom.
  • Use stairs instead of lifts or escalators and see how fast you can climb them
  • Go for a walk with your mates. Don’t get lost though - always make sure you know where you’re going and tell someone where you’ve gone.
