Public transport in Hull

We rely on public transport, like buses, to get to work or school, visit friends, go shopping or attend hospital appointments. In the future, public transport will be even more vital. If we are to reduce dependence on private cars, and create a sustainable transport network, an effective public transport system will be central to our plans.

We aim to provide an extensive, efficient, value for money public transport system for Hull.

How we provide this

We influence how and where public transport is provided by - 

• talking to the bus and train companies, suggesting services that are needed in Hull and encouraging the use of bus travel
• creating the infrastructure to support and improve public transport (by building bus lanes, priority signals, and so on)
• promoting the use of public transport to residents and businesses
• supporting needed bus services that are not commercially viable
• providing community transport services
• providing school transport

Community transport

We support the work of West and East Hull Community Transport in Hull. Both operators offer ‘Dial-a-Ride’ and ‘H-2-H’ services to Castle Hill and Hull Royal Infirmary hospitals, and transport to local doctors appointments, shops and general leisure purposes.
