Port of Hull

The Port of Hull is one of the UK’s leading foreign trading ports for a variety of cargoes, including lo-lo and ro-ro traffic, forest products, general cargo and is the only passenger port on the Humber Estuary, with a state of the art passenger terminal for P & O Ferries super cruise ferries on the Hull to Rotterdam crossing.

Through continuous private sector investment in new facilities and terminals the port has gone from strength to strength handling in excess of 12m tonnes of cargo in 2004.

Indeed container volumes at Hull have continued to grow and Associated British Ports has welcomed the Government’s go-ahead to develop the £35m multi purpose deep water river terminal ‘Quay 2005’, which will allow the port to accommodate larger container vessels. The new terminal is expected to be operational by the end of 2007.

Ferries

Hull has served as a gateway for visitors from the Continent, since the first passenger ferries sailed across the North Sea. In 2001, we welcomed the Pride of Rotterdam and the Pride of Hull, two luxurious cruise ferries - the largest of their kind in the world.

The sister ships add to the P&O Ferries fleet which operates overnight crossings between Hull and Rotterdam, Europoort, (Holland) and Zeebrugge (Belgium). The Ferry Terminal is situated 10 minutes from the city centre. A bus service runs at arrival and departure times.
