Hull City Council provides easy-to-access local authority searches and searches of the Local Land Charges Register. Every time someone buys, leases or values a property or piece of land, a search must be done to check if there is any information held that the purchaser would like to know.
We have received the Charter Mark Award for excellence in Public Service twice because we aim to give you the best service possible. You can read more about how we can help you by choosing from the links to the left.
A search
Every time a property or piece of land is purchased, leased or a valuation carried out, a request for a ‘search’ is normally sent to the authority in whose area the property lies. This is to check any matters affecting the property or land, registers as a local land charge or information held by the council that a prospective purchaser would like to know. A solicitor or licensed conveyancer usually applies for a search to be made, but private individuals or organisations can also make them.
If you have a comment, suggestion or complaint about us, please contact us and we will do our best to help you.
We maintain the Local Land Charges Register and complete the applications for official certificates of search.
Please note - we cannot answer enquiries on land ownership. If you think the land might belong to the council please contact legal records 01482 300 300. For privately owned land contact Hull District Land Registry 01482 223 244.
