Planning

Planning is about making sure the growth, development and use of an area is appropriate. And that it balances economic and population growth with the need to maintain quality of life, ensure sustainability, and preserve the history and character of an area.

Hull City Council is responsible for all planning issues for Hull. We research and create far-reaching, strategic plans to guide the development of the city. And we create planning policy and guidance to control and steer development.

We are also responsible for day-today planning functions within the city. We examine planning applications, provide advice and enforcement of building control, ensure the conservation of the historic environment and promote quality of design.

Planning systems

We have three major online systems that improve customer access to the planning services-

Local plan consultation logoHave your say on proposed planning documents

The consultation portal lets us know what you think about proposed planning documents. Here you can submit your views on current documents and review existing documents.

Public AccessView planning applications online

PublicAccess is an online system that allows you to view details of a property along with planning applications submitted to Hull City Council.
