Debt advice

If you are struggling with debt, or are worried that you will be in debt in the future, there are sources of help and advice you can turn to.

Hull Community Legal Advice Centre (CLAC)

The Hull Community Legal Advice Centre (CLAC) offers face to face advice on a range of legal issues. This includes advice on debt, benefits, housing, employment, immigration, community care, and family matters. The advice is independent, confidential and free of charge.

No appointment is needed but appointments can be arranged. You can get help with all of the above in one central location -

Opening hours:
Monday to Wednesday and Friday: 9am - 5pm
Thursday: 8am - 6pm

The Community Legal Advice Centre also provides outreach advice surgeries at the following customer service centres -

  • Ings Customer Service Centre - Mondays
  • North Point Customer Service Centre - Tuesdays
  • The Orchard Centre - Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • Greatfield Information Point - Fridays

Money Advice Service

The Money Advice Service is set up by Government to offer you free, unbiased money advice. Follow their step by step guide below to money health -

National Debtline offer a range debt consolidation and settlement solutions.
 
Arrow Consumer Credit Counselling Service (link opens in a new window)
The Consumer Credit Counselling Service offer a range of solutions for people with debt problems including poor credit ratings and County Court Judgements (CCJs). They offer a free home visit from an expert advisor and any advice given is totally free and confidential.

The Consumer Credit Counselling Service have also developed a guide which gives advice on debt management plans. This includes highlighting the difference between fee-charging debt management plans and the free plans offered by CCCS. It also discusses other solutions to serious debt problems.

Payplan are one of the UKs leading free debt management companies.
 
Arrow Supporting people
Each council has a Supporting People team. Supporting People is a government programme that combines several different sources of funding into a single Supporting People Grant. For more information on the Supporting People national programme use the web link on the left hand side. The website is a comprehensive gateway to health, social care and legal information for local people.
