Debt and money

If you are struggling with debt, or are worried that you will be in debt in the future, there are sources of help and advice you can turn to.

These agencies will also be able to offer help with issues such as housing, employment, health and the law. All of the links listed below open in new windows.

Hull Community Legal Advice Centre (CLAC)
The Hull Community Legal Advice Centre (CLAC) offers advice about debt, benefits, employment, immigration, housing, community care, education, or family matters, in one central location.

If you or someone you know needs advice, call into the CLAC’s city centre office. No appointment is needed.

The UK Insolvency Helpline
Freephone: 0800 074 6918
The UK Insolvency Helpline aims takes away any confusion about debt problems by providing the best debt help.

National Debtline
National Debtline offer a range debt consolidation and settlement solutions.

Consumer Credit Counselling Service
The Consumer Credit Counselling Service offer a range of solutions for people with debt problems including poor credit ratings and County Court Judgements (CCJs). They offer a free home visit from an expert advisor and any advice given is totally free and confidential.

Payplan are one of the UKs leading free debt management companies.

Hull and East Riding Credit Union
Hull and East Yorkshire Credit Union is a co-operative business. The business is locally run by and for its members and offers easy ways to save, access to low-cost, affordable loans and a range of other useful services to help you manage your money wisely.

Supporting People

Each council has a Supporting People team. Supporting People is a government programme that combines several different sources of funding into a single Supporting People Grant. For more information on the Supporting People national programme use the web link on the left hand side. The website is a comprehensive gateway to health, social care and legal information for local people.
