Community safety

Get involved and make Hull safer

Your organisation can apply for the community safety fund and help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in Hull.

The fund will help to improve safety within local communities - this could be with gating and fencing projects, or any schemes that will reduce or prevent crime.

All 23 wards in the city have been given a fund to help safety projects from community groups.

You can download the application form below. The form includes details on how to fill it in and the criteria we use to decide who gets funding. We can send you a paper version of the form if you prefer - contact your area team or call (01482) 300 300.

Send the form back to your local area team when you have filled it in.

Make a difference

The Home Office is encouraging residents to make a difference in their local community by becoming a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO).

As a PCSO, you will work on the frontline of your local police force, providing a visible and reassuring presence on the streets and tackling the menace of anti-social behaviour. Although PCSOs do not have the same powers as regular police officers, they still carry a lot of responsibility and are a critical part of the police force.

Applicants from all backgrounds and ethnic groups are welcome and there's no particular age group limit - in fact, if you're looking for a career change this might be just what you've been looking for.

For more information visit www.policecouldyou.co.uk/pcso (link opens in new window).

Inspector Nikki Evans (Lancashire Police) and PCSO Rachel Semczszym (Thames Valley Police) explain what it means to them to be a PCSO and how you can make a difference in your community. Click here for the webchat (link opens in new window).
