What you can do in The Orchard Centre customer service centre

In The Orchard Centre customer service centre we can help you with council-related queries, resolve problems, and provide help and advice. We have rooms where you can speak to someone in private. You can also speak to other organisations or council departments like the Hull Community Legal Advice Centre, welfare rights, trading standards or council tax over the telephone.

Some of the things you can report at the customer service centre include -

  • housing repairs and handing in keys
  • bins issues or fly tipping
  • environmental health issues
  • Trading Standards issues
  • faulty street lights, potholes, graffiti and abandoned cars
  • anti-social behaviour

We can help you arrange or apply for -

  • bus passes
  • council housing and council garages
  • council tax discounts
  • housing and council tax benefits (including local housing allowance and second adult rebate)
  • parking permits
  • school places
  • HomeSearch

We can also help with pensions, including -

  • verify and proof Department for Work and Pensions benefit forms, including those for bereavement and pension credits
  • act as contact point between customers and the Pension Service to arrange home visits by specialised Pension Service staff

You can pay many council bills by cash, debit or credit card using the payment machine, including -

  • business rates and Hull BIDS
  • council tax
  • housing rents and council mortgages
  • parking fines
  • overpaid housing benefit
  • sundry debt accounts
  • some parking permits (from 4 January 2010)
  • Kingston Communications telephone bills

You can also pay many council bills online, including council tax, housing rent or business rates.

As well as housing the customer service centre, The Orchard Centre includes NHS GPs, dentists and district nurses, a café, a community hall, a pharmacy and free internet access.
