Saturday 17 July and Sunday 18 July, 11am - 5pm
Come along to the Maritime festival for open-air performances of sea songs and shanties against a backdrop of traditional, classic and working vessels. The festival is held around the Hull Marina and admission is free.
There is something for everyone at the Maritime festival, including demonstrations of traditional crafts including woodcarving and coopering (barrel making), marine artistes, and maritime-themed activities for children.
The festival is recognised at home and abroad as one of the world’s leading maritime events. Some of the artists performing sea songs and shanties include -

The Maritime Festival will be brought to a close with a sing-along session in the Kingston Suite of The Portland Hotel.
Maritime history
- wander around Hull’s old Dock Offices and discover the city’s rich and colourful maritime history at the Maritime Museum, including whaling, fishing and shipping displays

- pay a visit to the award winning Ferens Art Gallery which boasts outstanding maritime paintings and a fine collection of European Old Masters

- climb aboard Hull’s last sidewinder trawler the Arctic Corsair, join the crew for a guided tour and hear about the perilous work of trawlermen in the Icelandic fishing grounds. Tours available Sat 10am - 3pm, Sun 1.30pm - 3pm (last tour at 3pm subject to availability of volunteer guides). Free tour tickets are available from the Hull and East Riding Museum shop, Museums Quarter, High Street

Weekend of fun
The waterfront will be alive with activity as the Maritime festival combines with the Jazz festival and the celebrations marking the return of the ten clipper yachts after their 35,000 mile round the world race.
